The preparation in advance for Family and its Discontents is coming to an end. We will soon be gathered to share, with our bodies, this tremendous work that the large family of the Euro-Federation of Psychoanalysis has been undertaking for several months.
Like any symbolic institution, the psychoanalytic institution aims at restraining jouissance; but unlike others, it is also the place of a spectacular work experience. Each person, by taking on the task of freeing himself from his own signifying chains, of loosening them, gets a new, amplified energy that can be invested by shifting his libido into a shared endeavor: that of bringing to life, sustaining and cultivating the analytic discourse–not for a personal glory, but in service of a School, which is in no way a group, but rather a set of scattered, ill-assorted individuals.
Besides, once we have concluded Family and its Discontents, we will meet again in Lille, on September 13, to explore these movements of the libido which will be the theme of the next FIPA day. If you do not want to get lost during the summer break, sign up now! https://fipa.causefreudienne.org/
So, does that mean there is no discontent? Certainly not, since it is structural to every human institution, whatever form it takes. But from this discomfort, we will draw the best, bringing forth new gems, clinical observations, the joy of meeting, of sharing our readings, our ideas, and our zest for life–despite and against all acedia.
¡Hasta la vista! Arrivederci! See you soon!
